Loud Shirts, Louder Message

Shit Shirt Club is not just about funny shit shirts. We are a mental health awareness clothing brand on a mission to spark real conversations.

Every shit shirt we sell helps raise funds for mental health charities and spreads awareness through bold, unapologetic design.

Our mental health apparel is more than a fashion choice. It is a symbol of connection, courage, and change. From loud prints to loud purpose, we wear our message proudly. This is mental health clothing that speaks volumes and supports life-saving conversations.

In Memory of Aine

The Founders Story

In 2022, our founder John lost his best friend Aine to mental illness. Her death was a devastating reminder of how silent and invisible mental health struggles can be, even in those who seem full of life. Aine was bright, bold, and the kind of person who always checked in on others. Her passing left a silence too loud to ignore.

John turned his grief into action. He remembered how wearing shit shirts on his travels sparked laughter, confidence, and connection. That spark became the Shit Shirt Club, a funny mental health shirts brand using bold, unapologetic fashion to start life-saving conversations.

Today, every shit shirt sold helps raise awareness and funds for mental health charities. Because while a shirt cannot bring someone back, it can start a conversation that might save someone else.

Our Purpose, Loud and Clear

  • A solid black square with no visible patterns, shapes, or distinguishable features.

    Advocating for Mental Health

We use our platform to raise funds, awareness and support for mental health through every shirt and campaign.

  • A hand is holding a magnifying glass over a document with lines of text, highlighting the contents for closer inspection. The image is in black and white, with a simple, clear design.

    Fundraising for Mental Health

A large portion of profits fund mental health charities, providing vital support across the UK.

  • Two simple outlined human figures are shown facing each other, each with a speech bubble above their head, representing communication or conversation.

    Starting Life-Saving Conversations

Our shit shirts are icebreakers that help people open up about mental health in fun, unexpected ways.

  • A simple black outline of a person with four diagonal lines radiating outward from the head and body, suggesting focus, attention, or importance.

    Building Confidence & Mood

Wearing a shit shirt is a bold act of self-expression that uplifts the wearer and those around them.

  • A simple icon of an envelope, depicted in black outline, symbolizing email or mail.

    A Legacy of Love

Shit Shirt Club was founded in memory of Aine, turning personal loss into purpose by helping others speak up.

Our Mission FAQs

A man in a colourful flamingo shit shirt laughs as a woman dressed in a large whoopee cushion costume pretends to press on his backside; both are having fun Twickenham for the rugby sevens.

At Shit Shirt Club, mental health isn’t just part of our story – i’s the reason we exist. Our journey began with personal loss, when our founder John lost his best friend Aine to suicide in 2022. Her passing became the heartbeat of our mission. Every shit shirt we design and every order we ship is a tribute to her memory and a step forward in breaking the silence around mental health.

We use funny mental health shirts and bold designs as more than fashion. They're part of a movement to make mental health support visible, accessible and talked about.

Here’s how we support mental health as a leading mental health awareness clothing brand:

1. Raising Awareness through What You Wear

Our shit shirts are loud for a reason. Each one sparks conversation and curiosity, opening the door to talk about mental health in a casual, approachable way. From festivals to the high street, our mental health apparel breaks stigma and encourages openness without needing to say a word.

2. Donating to Mental Health Charities

We give a large portion of our profits to mental health organisations like Suffolk Mind. In 2025, we helped fund their helpline, which provides life-saving support to those in crisis. Every time someone chooses our mental health clothing, they are helping someone else get the help they need.

3. Building a Positive Mental Health Community

We’re not just a mental health clothing brand. We’re a collective of people who care. Through our social media, events and partnerships, we’re building a safe, inclusive space that champions empathy, humour and human connection. Our community proves that it’s okay to talk, okay to ask for help, and okay to stand out.

4. Honouring a Life and a Legacy

Every shit shirt we sell is a reminder that even something playful can hold deep meaning. Aine’s story lives on through our work, showing that mental health struggles can affect anyone. Her legacy drives us to create positive mental health shirts that remind people to check in, speak up and support one another.

In short: Shit Shirt Club uses fashion as a force for good. Our mental health awareness apparel turns bold prints into bold action, helping people talk, heal and connect, one shit shirt at a time.

Shit Shirt Club was created from a powerful mix of heartbreak, hope, and the belief that fashion can start real conversations. It began with a backpack full of ridiculous, colourful shit shirts that made people laugh, connect, and open up. For founder John, those funny mental health shirts weren’t just a way to stand out, they were icebreakers that sparked human connection in the most unexpected places.

But in 2022, tragedy struck. John lost his best friend Aine Kerlin to suicide. Aine was kind, bright, and always made others feel seen, even while struggling herself. Her loss changed everything. It exposed how invisible mental health struggles can be and made John ask one hard question: what now?

He looked back to the impact those shirts had already made. How something as silly as a shit shirt helped strangers talk, feel less alone, and share their truth. That’s when the mission became clear.

Shit Shirt Club transformed from a clothing idea into a mental health awareness clothing brand. We now use bold, funny designs as tools for change, combining positive mental health shirts with real impact. Every item sold supports mental health charities, sparks conversation, and challenges stigma.

We’re not just a mental health clothing brand. We’re a movement. A legacy. A way to say what words often can’t. And a reminder that even the loudest shirts can carry the quietest, most important message, you are not alone.

At Shit Shirt Club, we believe a loud, clashing, unapologetically chaotic shirt can do more than make you stand out, it can lift your mood, spark joy, and change the way you feel. Our funny mental health shirts are designed to break down social barriers and create moments of connection. When you wear a shit shirt, you're not just wearing mental health apparel, you're making a statement that it's okay to be different.

These bold designs flip the script on fashion. They reject perfection and invite self-expression. People smile. They ask questions. They strike up conversations. Suddenly, the pressure to blend in with society’s idea of “normal” fades, and you're free to just be yourself. This is what makes our mental health awareness clothing so powerful, it gives people permission to stop hiding and start showing up.

As a mental health clothing brand, we’ve seen the impact firsthand. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, or just need a pick-me-up, putting on one of our positive mental health shirts can be the first small step toward feeling a little lighter. Our designs open the door to dialogue, remind you it's okay to be seen, and help others feel safe to speak up too.

So yes, our shit shirts might be fashion disasters by traditional standards, but they're also wearable tools for self-expression, confidence, and connection. That’s the point. Because sometimes, the most powerful mental health awareness shirt is the one that makes people laugh and say, “Where did you get that?”

Wearing a shit shirt is more than a bold fashion choice. It's a conversation starter, often the first step in breaking the silence around mental health. At Shit Shirt Club, we design funny mental health shirts that catch attention, raise eyebrows, and spark curiosity. Whether it’s someone asking “Where did you get that?” or a friend suddenly opening up, our mental health apparel makes connection easier.

In a world full of filters, noise, and social distance, wearing mental health awareness clothing cuts through the quiet. It disrupts the routine. It invites real dialogue. Our mental health shirts are intentionally loud because the subject they represent is too often kept quiet.

Every shit shirt we create is stitched with purpose. Behind the bright prints and bold patterns lies a deeper message, raising awareness, honouring lost loved ones, and funding mental health support. That first laugh or double take often leads to something deeper. You end up sharing your story. Your reason for wearing a mental health awareness shirt. And that moment of honesty reminds someone else they’re not alone.

We’ve seen it again and again. A stranger smiles. A friend asks questions. A room full of people laughs, then listens. This is what it means to be part of a mental health awareness clothing brand that’s different, one that leads with humour, purpose, and heart.

Because sometimes the most powerful conversations start with a so-called “shit” shirt. And sometimes, shirts for mental health awareness look like the exact opposite of what you’d expect.

Shit Shirt Club is more than just a mental health clothing brand. It’s a movement using bold designs and funny mental health shirts to spark conversation, raise awareness, and support real change. Whether you wear our shit shirts, stock them, or share our mission, there are loads of ways to get involved.

1. Share While You Wear

Wearing a shit shirt is a bold act. It normalises talking about mental health in everyday life. Snap a photo, share your story, or post a video in your mental health awareness shirt. Tag us and invite @shitshirt.club as a collaborator. If your post gets 20 likes, we’ll even send you a free shirt. Because the more we talk, the less we suffer in silence.

You don’t need to be a mental health expert to make a difference.

Whether you wear a funny mental health shirt, post your story, or help us reach new audiences, you’re part of something meaningful. Shit Shirt Club uses fashion as a force for good, because sometimes, the loudest shirts carry the quietest truths.

The shit shirt was outrageous, loud and certainly caused a lot of comments, but one thing it was not is shit. It is actually well made, fits great, is comfortable, and I think it's a good value.
